Fun Fact Friday #13 - Connie

How many of you are ready for break?
I know I am…
If anyone in your family or you know of friends (furry ones included)
who have been affected by the winds, fires or other disasters…
sending a prayer your way…

The finance office used to be located in the main office.  It was located immediately around the corner on the left side as you walked in from the double doors at attendance.  It was probably no bigger than a closet and had one window that faced the quad.  Everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) was done by hand.  There were no computers, no clearing kids with a push of the button, no queries, no internet, computer programs, printers, or printed receipts.  I remember the money (change) counting machine.  Paper money was counted by hand.  The finance clerk at the time was Elaine Kibbe.  She decided to retire when the computer was introduced.  It’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks…
With that being said…the job is so much more than a “click of the button”…working first hand with the Finance Office, I know that…so…it goes without saying this Friday Fact is a SHOUT OUT TO OUR FINANCE CLERK…CONNIE LOHMAN…A big thank you to YOU for all you does as our finance clerk.  Even though there are the “technological advantages” now, you still have a ton of responsibility…keeping track of all the clubs finances, paying officials, paying other bills necessary to run a school such as ours, ASB cards, yearbook sales, the student store items…ETC, ETC, ETC 1000X.  I know none of us know everything you do, so here’s to you Connie, for all the behind the scenes stuff and all the hours you put in above and beyond the expected…you do it all without complaints…

Fun Fact Friday #12 - Wrangler

The fact is…I don’t have an OLD Bonita fact!

But I have a NEW one that touches my heart more than anyone would ever know (unless of course you are a furry family member owner)…

Thank you ASB for welcoming Wrangler in to your family.

My “boy” Wrangler was born on a Ranch in Twin Oaks in January.  In March, I met this fuzzy huge puppy.  Until I had him full time, he had free roam of the property and swam in the creek most of his first 5 months of life.  If he was still there, he would have been an outside dog with manners suited for OUTSIDE…if you know what I mean.  His name would have been Ragnar…

Having him on campus this year and being around other dogs and humans (kids especially) has made him one H E double L of a dog…He is only 9 months old and is so much more mature than most puppies at his age.  Thank you JH for being an amazing handler…Wrangler has learned a lot from you…and just so y’all know…There is a student on campus who smiles now because he gets to be with Wrangler 7
th period.  The same student I had last year who never spoke a word…Thank you Lynn Mosher and Renee Romero for allowing this to happen.  I know J is a better kid because of it.  A really big thank you to the teachers who allow him in to your classroom…I hope he is a good boy!

Have a great weekend!!!
